Communication and Literacy

In a time where anger and violence are such daily occurrence, we recognize the crucial values of self-expression. We believe that communication and literacy are important elements to realization and happiness in society. In the 18th century, libraries became public. It is only in the 19th century that libraries became free. Today, the source of information is a wide universe.

Past projects:

  • The Writer’s Quilt:
    • The Writer’s Quilt was a virtual place for those with aspirations to write or create a story about difficult moments.
    • We believe in the Power of the Pen and want to assist members to express what they have to say.
    • We believe that writing can heal and empower people and families surviving stressful situations. Writing can be anything from a personal blog, poems, short stories,  memoir, autobiography, family history, novel or novella.

  • Green House Learning Center:
    • The project involved creating a safe harbor for domestic abuse survivors and assisting in gaining financial independence.
    • The project was based on the regional trends that women always returned to their abusers.

  • Vermont Press:
    • Vermont Press founded programs to encourage reading and writing, such as  Lara Moore Reviews, supporting the passage of memoirs and related genre and The Writers’ Quilt, promoting writing for people who had suffered severe illnesses or trauma in a new approach to treating and learning about diseases called: Narrative Medicine.*
Programs were funded by authors who have dedicated some of the income of their book to help other authors.
    • Narrative Medicine is an expanding new field that recognizes the value of storytelling in the healing path. The goal of this one-of-a-kind program is to create an inspired, rich, and multidisciplinary experience for everyone on a healing or caregiving trajectory.
“We brought authors to the forefront and assisted in promoting their important publications. Vermont Press exposed authors to a wider readership as well as organized panels at Book Venues such as the Bookstock Festival and Boston Book Fair.”and in partnership with Edelweiss and similar efforts such as Library Reads.”
